The Brass & Percussion Division is part of the School of Music, which is home to a nationally and internationally known music faculty of educators, performers, directors, recording artists, musicologists, and theorists. Most activities take place in Murphy Hall, an impressive facility that contains Swarthout Recital Hall, Gorton Music Library, the Robert Baustian Theatre, the McCurdy Jazz Studio, and newly refurbished practice rooms. The larger ensembles perform in the newly completed Lied Center, a 2,020-seat performing arts hall with state-of-the-art production capabilities.

Kansas Brass Quintet

Serving as a model and educational motivation for the students at KU, the Kansas Brass Quintet is the faculty brass quintet at the University of Kansas. Recognized for their brilliant performances, the Kansas Brass Quintet is committed to incorporating exciting, diverse musical styles with interesting and informative presentations to audiences throughout the region. The Kansas Brass Quintet performs numerous times on campus each year and serves to educate and guide brass students in chamber music performance and interaction.

KU Percussion Group

KU Percussion Group (KUPG), is the department’s percussion ensemble directed by Ji Hye Jung. KUPG offers students the opportunity to play in small chamber groups and to perform percussion ensemble repertoire ranging from classic to contemporary. There will be at least one concert per year with KUPG.
