KU School of Music announces new Instructor of Trumpet


The University of Kansas School of Music is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Aaron Romm as the new Instructor of Trumpet. He will join Associate Dean/Professor Steve Leisring in leading the KU Trumpet Studio, which has nearly doubled in size in recent years.

Dr. Romm comes to KU from Sarasota, Florida, where he recently was Co-Principal Trumpet of the Sarasota Orchestra and performed regularly with the Sarasota Opera and Music Festival. As a soloist and chamber musician, he has performed extensively, including in Brazil, Spain, Belgium, France, South Korea, and the United States, including Puerto Rico. He is a member of the Romm Trio, consisting of Aaron, Ron Romm (Trumpet and Founder, Canadian Brass), and Avis Romm (piano). He previously served on the faculties of Illinois State University and State College of Florida (Manatee-Sarasota). Other performance experience includes the Utah Festival Orchestra and Jalisco Philharmonic in Mexico.  

Dr. Romm holds a D.M.A. in Trumpet Performance and Literature and M.M in Trumpet Performance from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, and a Bachelor of Musical Arts from the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University.
