KU Wind Ensemble advances in national competition

The University of Kansas School of Music is pleased to announce the KU Wind Ensemble, with conductor Paul W. Popiel, has advanced as National Finalist in The American Prize National Nonprofit Competitions in the Performing Arts.

The wind ensemble is among several finalists in the competition. Winners and runners-up will be selected from this list as the contests unfold. This is the nation’s most comprehensive series of contests in the performing ARTS, and is designed to reward the best performing artists, directors, ensembles, and composers at professional, college/university, community, and high school levels based on submitted recordings.

The KU Wind Ensemble beat thousands of entries to advance as finalists for their recorded performance in the recently released album, Dreams Unseen. The collection features a range of works by esteemed composers including Katahj Copley, Tom Davoren, Joni Greene, Peter Meechan, and Omar Thomas.
